Search Price County Jail Inmate Records

Price County inmate records start with the local jail roster, but a reliable search also depends on knowing which custody system applies. People held for local booking, court processing, short county sentences, work release, or release review belong in the county jail path. Sentenced state prisoners, federal inmates, and immigration detainees are searched through different systems. A Price County jail roster search should therefore combine the official roster, jail contact channels, notification tools, and correctional locators when a name does not appear right away.

Price County Jail Roster Overview

The official local custody source is the Price County Jail Current Inmate List. It is operated through Price County's public website and is linked from the Sheriff's Office and jail pages. The roster page identifies the jail, displays a current inmate list heading, and includes a disclaimer stating that the information is provided for general use and may not be current or accurate even though it is updated regularly.

During the July 3, 2026 research inspection, the roster displayed "Total Inmates: 0" and did not open any live inmate profiles. That empty-list state matters because it limits what can be claimed about Price County profile fields. The county does indicate that booking information, charges, booking photos, and a Resident Booking Number or CID can appear when inmates are listed, but housing unit, bond amount, arresting agency, court date, and release date were not observed in the empty state.

The roster covers current Price County Jail custody. It is not the place to search for people already transferred to a Wisconsin Department of Corrections facility, a federal Bureau of Prisons facility, or immigration detention. When the roster does not show a person, the next step is not to assume there is no custody record. Check the jail phone channel, in-person records channel, VINELink, Wisconsin DOC, BOP, and ICE paths described below.

The county's roster source is documented in the official Current Inmate List screenshot from the manifest.

The screenshot supports the page's most important limitation: the roster is public and official, but an empty roster state does not provide a sample inmate profile to inspect.

How to Use the Price County Inmate Roster

The Price County roster appears to work as a current list with sorting controls rather than a multi-field search form. Use it first for a person recently arrested or believed to be held at Price County Jail. If a record appears, copy the spelling, booking date context, and CID or Resident Booking Number exactly before using deposit, phone, or visitation services.

  1. Open the official Current Inmate List from the Sheriff's Office or jail page.
  2. Read the county disclaimer before relying on any custody fact, because the list may lag booking, release, or data updates.
  3. Use "Newest Booking Date" for recent arrests, "Oldest Booking Date" for older current bookings, or the name sort controls when confirming whether a known person appears.
  4. If an inmate entry appears, check the booking photo area. Price County's Access Corrections instructions say the Resident Booking Number or inmate CID number can be found on the booking photo in the Current Inmate List tab.
  5. Before sending money, scheduling a visit, or asking about bond, capture the CID, first name, and last name exactly as shown. If the number is not visible, call the jail assistance line at 715-339-4116.
  6. If no record appears, call the Sheriff's Office main number at 715-339-3011 or use the other custody systems. A person may still be in intake, already released, in state custody, held for another agency, in federal custody, or in immigration custody.

Practical distinction: the county roster is for present local custody. Court charges, state prison status, federal custody, and immigration detention each have separate public lookup paths.

Price County Roster Search Fields

The public roster did not show last-name, first-name, date-of-birth, booking-number, charge, agency, housing-unit, or release-status search fields in the empty-list state. The visible tools were sorting controls and a results area. The general CivicPlus site search in the page header is separate from the jail roster and should not be treated as an inmate-record search field.

What a Price County Inmate Profile Shows

Because the Price County roster had no public entries during inspection, the inventory below separates observed fields from fields only implied by official county wording. That approach avoids overstating what the live roster displays while still preserving the useful local facts for people trying to identify a current inmate or obtain the correct CID for deposits.

FieldWhat It Shows
NameNot visible in the empty state, but Name A-Z and Name Z-A sort controls imply names appear when the list has inmates.
Booking dateNewest and Oldest Booking Date sort controls imply booking-date data appears or drives list order.
Booking photoPrice County's deposit instructions say the Resident Booking Number or CID can be found on the booking photo in the Current Inmate List tab.
Resident Booking Number / CIDRequired for Access Corrections deposits and obtainable from the booking photo or by calling 715-339-4116.
ChargesThe roster title and search-result language indicate booking information and charges are viewable when entries exist.
Total inmate countThe empty state displayed Total Inmates: 0 on July 3, 2026.
DisclaimerThe county warns the list is informational and may not be current or accurate.
Housing, bond, agency, court date, release dateNot observed in the empty state. Verify through the jail, the Clerk of Circuit Court, or WCCA/CCAP instead of assuming these are roster fields.

County Jail vs Wisconsin DOC vs BOP or ICE

Price County Jail is the local detention facility for adults booked by Price County law enforcement and people held for court, bond, short sentences, Huber or work release, electronic monitoring processing, or local release review. Wisconsin DOC is the state prison and supervision agency. BOP and ICE are federal systems. Mixing these sources is the most common reason an inmate search fails.

Do not treat one locator as statewide proof of custody. A person missing from the Price County roster may be newly booked, released, in a city or county jail elsewhere, in Wisconsin DOC custody, in federal custody, or in immigration detention.

The Wisconsin DOC locator interface is shown in the manifest through the official DOC Offender Locator source.

Wisconsin DOC Offender Locator public search page

That DOC source is useful after sentencing or for supervision status, but DOC's own guidance tells readers to check city or county jails when a person is not found in state custody.

For federal custody, the manifest includes the BOP Inmate Locator source.

Federal BOP Inmate Locator with number and name search paths

The BOP locator uses federal identifiers or name fields and result columns such as name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. It does not replace the Price County jail roster for local custody.

Price County Jail Facility Contact Card

The facility map for this project lists only one Price County detention facility: Price County Jail. No separate county work-release annex, regional jail, state prison, BOP facility, or ICE facility was found in Price County official sources. The jail administers local custody and related programs from the Sheriff's Office location in Phillips.

Booking and First 24 Hours in Price County

Price County's FAQ describes booking as a local intake process rather than an instant public posting. A person brought to jail should expect identity questions, including full name, address, Social Security number, and phone number, along with medical and mental-health history questions. The FAQ says fingerprints and photos are taken, and the jail's health-services material says initial medical and mental-health screenings are conducted on all inmates at intake.

Property is handled during intake. Money goes into a trust account, medication must be reviewed by jail medical staff and stored securely, and clothing or other property is placed in a bin marked with the inmate's name. A phone call is given after booking as time allows and as long as no call restrictions apply. Staff also say they make every effort to assist with bond or bail options when that stage is reached.

If the person remains housed, Price County rules allow placement in a holding cell for up to 24 hours as space permits. The inmate removes street clothing, jewelry, and accessories and receives a jail uniform. After the first 24 hours, general population placement may occur if the person passes a preliminary breath test, and jail-issued linens and hygiene items are then provided. Classification can later move up or down based on judicial and behavioral changes.

This sequence explains why a recent arrest might not appear immediately in the public roster. Intake, screening, photos, property, bond communication, holding-cell observation, and classification can all occur before a family member sees a clean public listing. The practical fallback is the jail line at 715-339-4116, the main Sheriff's Office line at 715-339-3011, VINELink, and later WCCA/CCAP for filed court charges.

Visitation Hours and Rules

Price County uses video visitation. The county states that onsite video uses one video monitor in the main lobby of the Sheriff's Office and is free. Home video visits use CIDNET, require a visitor account, jail staff approval, and scheduling at least 24 hours in advance. Professional visits and special visits should be scheduled through jail staff or by written request where required.

Mail, Phone, and Direct Contact with an Inmate

Mail for a Price County Jail inmate should be addressed to Price County Jail, Inmate Name, PO Box B, Phillips, WI 54555. The jail accepts letters, greeting cards, postcards, and standard photographs through USPS. Sender name and return address are required. Books and magazines must be mailed directly through an official vendor such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or a similar source, and hand-delivered books or magazines are not accepted.

Mail is processed Monday through Friday except holidays. Adhesives, labels, stickers, glue, paint, decoration, marker, crayon, Polaroids, and sexually explicit photos can cause mail to be rejected or placed in property. Mail for people no longer in custody is returned to the sender, so custody should be confirmed before sending time-sensitive items.

CIDNET provides the inmate telephone system. Inmates in general population may make collect calls to landlines, use jail-issued calling cards purchased from trust account funds, or use a prepaid CIDNET account. Jail calling-card orders are taken Sunday and Wednesday and delivered Monday and Thursday. These phone tools help maintain contact, but they do not confirm the same information as a roster or records request.

Commissary, Deposits, and CID Numbers

Price County uses Access Corrections for online and phone deposits. The deposit workflow requires State: Wisconsin, Agency: Price County, the Resident Booking Number or inmate CID, the inmate's first and last name, and cardholder information. The county says the Resident Booking Number or CID can be found on the booking photo in the Current Inmate List tab when a person appears, or obtained by calling the jail at 715-339-4116.

Access Corrections phone deposits are available at 866-345-1884. Online deposits are available through the county's Access Corrections link, and transaction fees or maximum amounts are displayed before completion. Cash may be accepted by jail staff or sent through U.S. mail at the sender's risk. Money orders and cashier's checks should be made out to the inmate.

Keefe Group provides canteen service. Orders are placed Sunday evening and delivered Tuesday or Wednesday unless a holiday changes the schedule. Funds in a trust account may be used for canteen, phone cards, fees, services, or expenses, and an inmate cannot use canteen to buy items for another inmate.

The deposit requirements are documented in the manifest from Price County's Access Corrections inmate deposits page.

Price County Access Corrections deposit page with required booking CID details

The deposit page is why the roster's booking photo and CID details are important for more than identification. They are also required for sending money through the county's approved deposit channel.

Confirm first: check custody status with Price County Jail before sending money, mailing property, or scheduling a visit, especially when the public roster is empty or delayed.
